Question - What's the age limit for your camp?
Answer - Camp Great Skate accepts children from Kindergarten all the way up to 8th grade!

Question - Are there any types of discounts at Camp Great Skate?
Answer - There will be a third child discount.  In other words - full price, full price, half price.  There is also an incentive discount for previous attending families.  If they get 2 new families to each register for a full week or 2 new families to register for 2 partial 3 day weeks, they will receive a $20 discount.

Question - Does my child have to live in the Troy/Triad school district to attend your camp?
Answer - No, everyone is welcome at our camp regardless of where you live!

Question - How often do the campers get to go outside?
Answer - The Great Skate is literally FOOTSTEPS away from the Tri-Township Park!  We head over there and play outside as much as possible.  We are very cautious about weather conditions, and they are taken into consideration whenever activities are planned.

Question - What if it rains?
Answer - We have use of the entire Great Skate facility.  Games, crafts, and movies (on the two jumbo-screens) are just some of the activities done if there is inclement weather.

Question - Do we skate every day?
Answer - Yes, usually from 1-3.  This works out well because the building is air conditioned, and that tends to be the hottest part of the day.

Question - What is the camper to counselor ratio?
Answer - We have no more than a 10:1 ratio; If we get more children signed up, then more staff will be hired!

Question - At the top of the page, it say's "C.O.A.C.A. sponsors Summer Camp at the Great Skate."  What does C.O.A.C.A. stand for?
Answer - C.O.A.C.A. stands for Civic Organization for Athletic and Craft Activities!

Question - How many years has there been a camp at The Great Skate?
Answer - This is our eighth year!

Question - Are there any field trips planned?
Answer - Yes!  You'll be able to check the calendar of events to see the field trips we have planned and when they are!  In the past we've gone to the St. Louis Zoo, the City Museum, the Science Center, the Wood River Aquatic Center...etc!

Question - It's the summer - do the campers ever get to go swimming?
Answer - Yes!  We go to the Korte Recreation Center in Highland or the Highland pool every other Wednesday!  On the Wednesdays we don't go swimming, we have some huge water inflatables that we play on outside!

Question - How do we insure the safety of your child?
Answer - First, we do have a sign-in and sign-out sheet for every day.  ID will be required for camper sign-out and checked against a previously filled out list of authorized people to pick up your child.  During the day, your child is never left unsupervised.  Other than the staff, we also have very qualified and responsible 14 and 15 year old Junior Counselors who help with the activities.

Question - What does my child need to bring to camp each day?
Answer - Here's a quick list for you:  a water bottle, sunscreen, lunch (refrigeration won't be available), old clothes (kids WILL get dirty!), tennis shoes, and money for concession stand.  We'll let you know on a daily basis if there is anything else your child may need to bring the following day - i.e. a fishing pole, tennis racquet, hockey stick...etc.

Question - What is the camp's tax ID number?
Answer -
35-3107176

Question - Anything else?
Answer - Make sure to put your child's name on everything they bring to camp!  If you have any other questions, give us a call/email and we'll answer anything that's on your mind!
